Hey guys last Saturday night i was behaving a right idiot, and took a corner a bit to quick in the wet. i nearly had it under control but nearly isnt good enough and ended up crunching the back left side into a curb.
End result was a cracked rim, but i had a look underneath the car and everything seemed fine. Now the problem is whenever im driving a hear a sqeek coming out of the back end, but when i brake the sqeek seems to soften to almost nothing. has anyone got any ideas what it might be? could be the axels are bent, or the rotors are bent, how hard did u wack it?

frd906n wrote: could be the axels are bent, or the rotors are bent, how hard did u wack it? I cant really say how hard i slapped it, it cracked the rim, which was an EA s-spac type alloy. the lip of the rim was cracked pretty much, but there was a fair thud from inside the car

possibly the diff is f**k, if it took a fair wack, i wacked mine hard and broke my rims and later on found the diff was rooted, camberd my perfectly good tyres out in 2 days

I'd say you've bent a combination of the rotor and diff...
The disc wobbles when it spins now and just brushes the pads all the time... hence the squeak... Gets quicker the quicker you go? Jack the car up and pit it in gear running and watch the back wheels, see if they run true... remove the wheels, run the discs and see if they run true... Cheers, Tim

jack the a** end up and see if the wheel spins true to start... if it doesn't then remove it and eye ball the disc... If the other side spins true, put the wobbly wheel on there to make sure its not the wheel...
Then you know its the disc at best, the diff at worst...

if there is no whining,grinding or crunching? the diff will be fine..
it will be a bent axle!!!!!!!!! i had the same thing in my old xr8, brake discs will be fine.. the brake disc will look bent as it turns but its usually the axle face thats bent... |

depending on how bad the wobble is...?i think its ok to drive for a short time at normal speeds, but its something that should be looked at asap as you dont know how bad the axle is,
its copped a hit bad enough to bend the axle there is a chance that there could also be stress cracks in the axle castng.. last thing you want is the axle snapping at the hub and the wheel coming of at speed... |

theres absolutely no wobble that i can feel driving it,grinding or whining noises. Even when on the brakes hard theres no shudder or noises... its pretty much the sqeaking!

Jack it up and double check for the wobble... My neighbour bellow didn't know anything was wrong until it locked up and wouldn't leave the pedestrian crossing...
Next door neighbour bought a VR/VS ute from Sydney auctions that had been a repairable write off... As Troy said, both wheel and disc wobbled, but on the other side they were proven to be fine... Diff tube was straight we think as replaced the axle and it came good... It had brand new rear pads when he left Sydney and there were metal to metal by the time he got to Leeton (600km) and it locked upon him at the Pedestrian Crossing up the street... This was the first he new he had a problem... Cheers, Tim

Maybe a chance to get rid of the single pegger and go for a lsd

thanks alot guys! ill keep her off the road until i get a chance to lift her up!
Ive already got an LSD in there but its limo spec.... maybe 4.11's  Ill keep u guys posted on what it is! Thx for everyones help Alex
