okies - grinding in the steering when turning over - wheel bearings have been done, so has the steering shaft - still sound like the pump? the P/S seems to kick in & out, so i assume the pump is part of it...

dont forget to check your tyre pessures, ive had a simalar problem right to the point that the bloody steering wouldent turn with out the car moving, so i checked my tyers and i only had about 10psi in the fronts, i toped them up and every thing came fine :)

The belt is slipping if the belt is worn it may be tight but resting in the bottom of the groove and not on the sides causing it to slip
