Hey guys, everyone asks if AU onwards offset rims can be put on an E series car, but what if it's the other way around? Can you put E series rims on an AU?

Thanks!

nah it must work. there is a series one AU wagon in bendigo with XF steelies and hubcaps. may be different on series one AU's because of the smaller brakes

they stick out ~35mm more, the opposite to AU rims sitting ~35mm in on an E-Series.
i know, shocking isn't it.

No, No, No and Oh, NO!!!

They will hit the guards. They stick out too far, and more importantly, place an incorrect load on the wheel bearings and studs.

And it looks like crap.

With the track pushed out 35mm each side it is also illegal and would void any insurance etc.

I don't know why you would do it with such a wide range of wheel choice for AU onwards cars.

As long as they are rims under 6" wide (I think) they just fit.

AU offset is +35 and Pre-AU offset is +6 so the wheels sit 29mm further out.

They may fit, but if the track is altered by more than 25mm, they are illegal. (in VIC)

Here is a perfect example of E series rims on a AU.

They may not seem to be sticking out too far, but you would be done by the cops for this. Not to mention ruin your guards.

I put 17x8 eseries rims on my au, filled the rear guards real nice but the fronts stuck out to far as seen above. I was thinking about just getting 2 au spec rims for the front to match but got 20's instead.

Yeah that pic XR lane posted is of my car. I didn't drive with them, would definately hit the guards around corners/over bumps. As BenJ said wouldn't do your bearings any favours either.
