hi guys,
i lookin at purchasing a manual to convert my loved ef futura from an auto. i have found an ea manual at a good price. would this fit straight in?? any mods need to be done? what are the ea manual's like? much diffrent between the eb-el manuals?? cheers |

talk to sam_ftr. he has an ea manual in his ef with 350,000 on the clock, dam thing goes hard and launches well in first and second.

Yeah the manual will bolt straight on, assuming that you know what you are doing
 . I helped a mate with an EF motor conversion in his EA. The things you need to worry about (because I have also done manual conversions) are 1, the computer, you have to bridge out the neutral start switch so that it starts. Secondly you have to get the whole pedal box and pull the dash out to install it.

EAs are a weaker box with a shorter first gear I think.

i had an ea for about to year before i upgraded to a vct, one thing i learnt is never buy an ea or put any parts from an ea in your ea or any other falcon.

Care to elaborate on this ? I've owned 3 EA's an EBII and and EF XR, the EA's have been the pic of the bunch reliability wise. I hate it when people just bag out EA's for no reason. |

i have read this before, is it actually true or are they just not as good cause they don't have the same synchro's as later boxes?

The only possible reason, is because the EA box is a couple years older and therefore has had more km's put on them??
As far as i know they are just as durable as the EBII onwards boxes..... |
