No . . . The ea trans is a 3spd that's runs from its own computer - the el ecu runs both engine and trans and the el trans is 4spd so the el ecu probably won't run it . . . Your better of just gettin at least an eb or ed trans but u can pick up an ef/l trans for pretty cheap anyway . . . Hope that helps ;)

If the trans is out of an 1990 onwards EA series 2 - It will be a BTR 4 speed & it will fit in an EL.

The series 1 EA had a Borg warner 51 3 speeder, which is basically the same box thats fitted from XD - onwards (same cooler pipe locations etc) - They dont have a computer for the auto trans.

When EA series 2's were being used as taxi's, The BTR's used to blow up quite often & i got to convert a few back to the old B/W 51 3 speeder due to the high cost of rebuilding BTR's back then..

Oh my bad - sorry i was under the impression that all ea's were 3spd and they had their own computer seperate from the main ecu . . . well you learn something everyday

The later EA's + EB series 1 (6cyl) had a seperate computer for the auto trans, When the EB-2's - onwards came out with the 4.0 litre, they combined it with the ECU. But the V8 BTR's from EB1's - EL's went back to running a seperate computer for the auto's.
