Yeh, someone made a good point there.. the EL's didnt come with 3.08. Only EF Series I came with 3.08, as Ford beleived the added low range torque which the BBM offered could be utilised best with a higher diff ratio..

:?

AFAIK Low series EL's (GLi/Futura/Fairmont 6s) came with 3.08 SS diffs. High specs and V8s can with 3.23's and XRs 3.45s.

And with a first gear max speed of 96KM/H in mine, it screams 3.08.

I have a 3.08 from an EL in mine, it has 3.08 sticker on it and the housing has the EL mounting points for the top arms.
Cheers

The service manual says autos got a 3.08 unless it was an XR or fairmont ghia in which case it was 3.45 LSD. Manuals got a 3.23 unless XR. Optional LSD fitted to base model cars was also a 3.23.

Fair enough. I stand corrected :)

Never owned a falcon with a 3.08!

YES IT WAS A 3.08 DIFF . The 3.23 diff housing is differnt where the pinion goes in so the pinion from a 3.45 or 3.08 gear set will not fit. If you put the pinion from a 3.45 or 3.08 next to a 3.23 you will see the difference where the collapsable spacer fits over the pinion.
