Is the 4 speed auto from a 1994 EF fairmont ghia a straight fit into a 1992 EB falcon?

Yes, the only difference between them are the EB one was/had ajustable bands, and the EF one doesn't. I f your using a 2nd hand one, check the wear in the slip-yoke bush, they tend to wear out...a lot.

i just put an EL box into my EAII and i had absolutely no issues... the lack of band tightning bolt does suck as i need it now

mine seems to be fine. had no issues at all putting it in.
