Hi
can anyone confirm that the front and rear discs on an ef el with abs will fit an eb with abs and the only difference is the stud lengths im pretty sure the ef el have the extension on the studs but the ea to ed dont. i am curious because i am looking at a set of ef el discs and i dont care about the stud length because i am running mag wheels with long nuts.

thanks

ABS ring on the front is different and the rear is different due to the handbrake.

Because EB/ED handbrake setup is different to the EF/EL. EB/ED works off the caliper and EL/EF have seperate brake shoes.

yea i know the caliper is different but im just talking about the discs only not the whole brake setup just disc replacement from what i remember i had a na fairlane that i put el discs on the front but i had to remove the abs ring because it didnt have abs but they fit fine, i dont understand why ford would have changed the diff and disc setup on just the caliper handbrake change.

1) Front discs will fit, the ABS ring is different.

2) I will say it again, the rear discs are different. They are different because of the change in handbrake setup. The diff is not different, the handbrake setup is. Ford change to the EF/EL handbrake because it is an improvement.

SWC is correct.

I have an EB Wagon, I converted to EF/EL rear brakes.

If you want to change the rear to EF EL rotors you will need the complete setup including rotors, calipers, brake lines, backing plate, hand brake cable and as I recall the tone ring is actually on the axle, so you can keep your current axles. You will have to remove them to swap the backing plate over and make sure the EB/ED sensor will fit correctly in the EF/EL backing plate, which it may not.

Oh, you will also need to weld on the handbrake cable mounting points to your EB diff.

Yes, I have done all of this before.

To be honest sourcing a wagon diff from an EF/EL will be cheaper in the long run. I picked one up for $30 to keep as a spare.

I have front EL rotors on my EB, but I don't have ABS so it is not an issue for me.

Cheers
BenJ

holy cow benj your nuts ive seen all your work on the black wagon its awesome. i also did a little research on the brake system yea too complicated for me all i want to do is change the discs but for some reason the ef el ones are cheaper than the eb ed ones i have no idea why but ill just have to settle on getting the standard ones.

thanks for everyones replies.
