depends on the shocks, the condition of your suspension bushes, tyres, all sorts of things mate. Tyres are a big part of it though.

Depends what you are after, I personally like Pedders Sports Ryder shocks, but if you want a bit more comfort, go for a different shock, comfort gas are OK but they arent as good for handling, maybe look at a monroe or something if you want a really smooth ride.

KYB Gas-a-justs are a good damper and give you good feel through the wheels.

I recently went back to 15 inch wheels to get the tyres changed out on the 17's(ELGT copies)and the ride was far improved and a lot more comfy in the cabin. Thinking I might just leave the 15's on for a while and soak up the quietness and smooth ride. I was told by numerous people that the ride gets harsher as you lower the profile of your tyes - now I know! It has the pedders sports ryder dampers and pedders lowered springs(more closer to a normal ride height though).

As mentioned above, your shocks will play more of a role in comfort level than your springs.

Personally, I'd say get comfort shocks with standard XR spring height if you are running 19" with low profile tyres. You will still feel every tiny bit of bump on the road due to the (lack of) tyre, but at least the shocks will give you some comfort when driving through a dip.

I have 17" rims with 235/45/17 tyres, Koni yellow adjustables shocks and King springs. With the poor maintenance of the road surface in my neighbourhood, medium/stiff setting on the shocks gives a rollercoaster ride compared to soft/medium setting.

Back in the day, I drove a new EF XR6 and later, an EL XR6.....the EL had a smoother ride, even though the pair had the same size tyres on them.
Ford had changed the shockie rates in the EL.
