Hi guys, i am tryint to work out whats up with my xe. Its a 351c backed with a fmx.
So basically i spun her up exiting a corner rpm is at about 5700rpm change to second manually so i can get more out of The gears, rpm is now at 3500 2nd gear all of a sudden rpm spikes to 6500+ and have to limp home in first with minimal gear gripping for 40kms. Any idea whats going on. Just spoke to my brother where the car is and now its a bit cooler he seems to be gripping the gear. Quite a headache, any advice.

Do a full oil change, ie not just a pan change, get as much of the old oil out as possible, you probably fried it, and when it get's hot it's not allowing the torque converter to do what it should. Remember, they are a turbine spun by the engine and rely on good oil of the right viscosity to do their job without slipping.

Cheers
