hi guys
looking to see what people are running and info on some clutches.
as mine is now fried to s**t. i can still drive but at a snails pace anything more then 5 degrees of throttle and it starts to slip.

not knowing what is in my xr6 now but it is f**k heavy, (heavier then my hino truck at work)
my fire wall has cracked but fiends s/s plate has fixed that.

is there a way to identifiy what is in my car with out completely removing it.
and what are some good options as a replacement .

been looking at a "exedy heavy duty kit" which is 40% heavier then standard.

Excedy heavy duty are good, aparently they arent heavier on the foot but are a much better clutch over the standard

Unfortunately, no way of really knowing what clutch kit you have on until the box is completely out. Unless you have better than x-ray vision to see through the bell housing.

I have an Xtreme Performance clutch which was supposed to be heavier than stock, I think it was also 40% heavier.

However, I found after installing it, it was much lighter than the stock. So I was surprised and happy at the same time :). Drives fine and haven't had issues since. Bought mine from Hightek Brakes for $365 about 5 years ago now...so might be way different now.

I was told, if the fingers on the clutch housing are bent unevenly, it can cause the clutch pedal to be heavier to push on. Not sure if that's true or not, but having had a look at my old one closely, they were pretty badly bent. If not, it might also be sticky cable, look for any kinks and might need lubing.

Hope that helps.

yeah after i replaced my clutch it was wayyyyyy lighter, i think it just gets heavier as the thrust bearing and pivot point on the clutch fork get dirtier

i've got an excedy hd " sports tough" clutch in my el, it feels fine under foot, almost as light as a standard 3 bolt clutch which is much smaller, even my mum can drive my car with my clutch in it, and she doesn't struggle is a very nice clutch to drive with
