A few weeks ago we put new Monroe Shocks in my EF. With the front right hand side, the little bracket for the ABS wire ended up facing the back of the car, but the wire is on the other side.
-The left hand side is fine. -Swapping the RH to LH and vice versa will not help. -I don't believe the top mounts can be turned 180 Degrees. I am thinking of the possibility that the springs are upside down (Causing the top mounts to line up wrong), but the LHS lines up well, and it seems ok... They did seem to need a slight bash to rotate them into position relative to the top mount bolt holes though... What the hell is going on? Obviously not a big problem, but it bugs me.... |

Sounds like they have given you 2 left shocks in regards to the ABS cable mount. They should mirror each other.

the strut tops can be spun around 360 degrees to align with the hole in the strut towers, u may need to loosen the centre strut bolt to do this and maybe even get spring compressors on the springs to take the load off the strut top.
there isnt a lh and rh strut. |

Do you mean that the top metal mount can be rotated independently of the rubber insert spring seat? Bingo  I need that camber kit and some stuff for my mates EF, check your PM's.... |

yeah the metal tops can be moved around 360 degrees to line up with the holes in the body.
i have the camber kit for both upper arms here, looks like it has been done in the last year or so, nolathane type bushes, with lots of shims too. mate wanted $40 the lot |

Struts are identical apart from the ABS line bracket. |

Some struts have the ABS brackets either side, some have the brackets separate, so they can be fitted either side. The rubber insulators can be prised from the upper caps, and rotated to suit. The upper caps aren't LH or RH specific either.
The springs are almost identical top and bottom - the spring wire end at the bottom protrudes outside the spring arc by about 8-10mm or so - the top wire end is usually flush or protrudes slightly. If the spring was fitted upside down, most likely the end wouldn't fit snugly in the strut - it might sit up the tapered area of the base (if you understand what I'm meaning here). Having said this, I find keeping components separate LH and RH when dismantling/assembling helps a lot - using whiteout to put reference marks helps when aligning everything and having it fit when put together.

Cheers Snap. these struts (Monroe) just have the ABS brackets on opposite angles.
