Thread moved to gearbox, suspension, brake and driveline workshop.

Force fed - welcome to the forums. In answer to your question, these boxes are little different to the old slushomatics that people tend to fit with full manaul valve bodies.

The actuation of the various parts of the BTR is controlled electronically by solenoids that manipulate the flow of hydraulic trans fluid throughout the box. The ECU or the trans control module have control of the 7 solenoids.

Therefore any solution to your question would be an electronic one... without some fairly radical changes.

If the car has a seperate trans control unit (EA 6cyl and EB-EL 8cyl) then you can disconnect the vechicle speed sensor from the trans control unit and you will be able to manually select between 1-2-3 without any automatic gear changes.

But if its an EF 6cyl, the trans control is integrated into the ECU.... and i dont think weve got any devices to manipulate the trans control functions yet.

Either that or retrofit an old FMX/AOD auto box to the EF :)
