Hey guys hoping someone can help me out here. My 2001 AU forte is making a slight grinding/whining noise from the front. Here is a few other things i have noticed which will hopefully help diagnose the problem

.....it stops making the noise when i turn left. So if the steering wheel is straight or turning to the right it makes the sound. It gets slightly worse if i turn right.

.....ALSO the sound get more intense as the speed of the car increases .. NOT with the RPM of the engine

Im predicting its something to do with the front axle or a front right bearing or something like that. Any help would be really appreciated guys.

Cheers Dom

Sounds like a wheel bearing/hub that's on the way out. Jack the front of the car up, support it on stands. Grab the wheels at 12 & 6 oclock & feel for any "play". If there is some, there's wear in the bearings & they need urgent attention!

Cheers

2001 is series 2 right?

remove wheel, caliper, disc. i believe it is 3 or 4 bolts from the back of the hub arm assembly that holds the bearing on. remove those and the bearing is a sealed unit with the rotor hub and wheel studs built onto it. replace that. re-assemble. all done
