G'day, need to tow a car home for parts and the only car I have that can tow is my lowered XF ute..

The top of the tyres are just under the wheel arches, would the weight of a trailer and car be too much? I'm guessing yes but I'm not too sure about how leaf suspension goes with the extra weight.

Also can anyone tell me how much an XF is going to struggle with towing a trailer with a 1600kg car? It's auto with cooler. It's got a 250 xflow engine with efi.

Cheers

You may have to balance the car on the trailer to limit the down force on the hitch.
It will tow it, you will see the fuel guage move....... :D .....
Remember to use the gears....down hill...and on acceleration.....saves the brakes a little.

Yeah for sure, speaking of gears how will the old borg warner go with the heavy load?

I need to tow it about 100k's with a few hills, but I'll give it breaks so it doesn't get too hot..

When you pull up somewhere, check the condition ( colour & smell ) of the ATF.
Shift the gears manually. You've got an aux cooler, that will help heaps.
