at the moment ive got king lows all roung on my ef with standard shocks, its always been a tad high for my taste.

im pretty sure the standard shocks are f**k in it (especially the back) as it creeks like crazy even with one person in the back, 3 is even louder, sometimes it creeks when its just me in the car.
and its getting to be a pretty rough ride over bumps etc.

my question is does this sound like the shocks are worn out or would it be something else?

but my main question is would fitting shortened shocks with my 'low' springs lower the car anymore? and could they do any damage because i heard somewhere they are only recomended for superlow springs.

thanks alot

Low spring should be ok with standard height shocks unless the shocks themselves are really old, they may be dead.
Shortened shocks with low springs may lower the car a bit more but just a tad and probably hardly noticeable.
A pair of rear shortened shocks can be in the real of $200 second hand. Add $150 for new

yeah the spring have been in the car for 3 years and the problems only started over the last year.
so i dont know whether to buy standard shocks or shortened ones.

is it possible that if i buy new stock ones the cars height will be raised?

Could be some bushes rotting away, take it to a suspension joint to do a check over it see if anything is stuffed

pedders will do one for $14, I'm sure you have that stuck down the back of the lounge, Rear shocks are probably the easiest thing to change yourself on a car, second only to the air filter.

Umm getting them off is easy, to get them back on then all you have to do is to have the car supported in the air via the chassis then use the jack on the diff to compress the springs/shocks to a point where you can do them all up easily. Make sure they are uber tight, then lower it, take it for a quick drive and check everything is still really tight.

There's probably a more detailed guide somewhere, but its fairly straight forward, you don't even need a spring compressor when doing it this way.

As long as a shock isn't fully extended or fully closed at ride height, it will have zero or negligible effect on the ride height. A non-gas pressurised shock will have zero effect, and a gas shock will increase the height say 0.5 to 2mm.

you will need short shafts for the rear. i did and i only lowered the car 1.5". and your meant to undo the rear control arm bush bolts when the car is on level ground then do them back up so the bushed resettle in the best spot
