i got a good ea box in my EF using NEW EF 6bolt flywheel/clutch, its going very well, the shorter 1st and 5th are rather noticable though, 1st is gone so fast but makes launching the car very quick, while i sit at 2400rpm @ 110 with a 3.23 (supposed 3.23 need to check that)

I wouldn't mind seeing what a 292 diff gear set would be like, as thats what the box is made for.
Southy has the gears in his ea, and does a mid 14 sec pass.

anyone know the C4 overdrive ratio off hand? I cant seem to find my manual, I recall it being a little higher than the EF T5 at any rate.

-- whoops just found the manual and checked, other way around, C4 overdrive is 0.68 :\ Oh well there goes economy.

Would 2400 @ 110 be about the same as an EF XR6 though?

I just wish I still had my 3.08 gears in.. that would be ideal.

I know this has been raised in another thread, namely
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... gear+ratio

But it seems odd that an EA box couldnt be retro fitted with a lower ratio 5th gear without too much effort..? 5th sits outside the main transmission case as a seperate unit in the extension housing.. I dont know all that much about overhauling transmissions though.

i've got factory EF Futura manual, and it sits on about 2200rpm @ 110, with a 3.23 diff. 3.45 (XR6) should make it about 2400rpm at my guess.

I have an EA MPFI with factory 2.92 LSD, 5sp man, and it wasn't too bad, but I have sinced changed the diff gears to 3.27's and it pulls a lot harder than it did, and I'm happy with that ratio diff, and the EA 5sp box.

That's something i was thinking of doing, but I really don't want to sacrifice my highway cruising, since I drive from Brissy to Townsville at least once or twice a year.
I tell ya what, as it is, the EF, with near 350,000km on the clock still pulls like a schoolboy, just that damn highway rpm in 5th gear sucks de balls.

I have heard the ea lsd isn't what you call the strongest setup either.
and would have to change the hand brake setup also.
