Hey all, just done the manual conversion with the help of Voxaces excellent guide (Cant thank you enough for that writeup man it was way superior to any previous guide I had seen). Runs about a million better etc etc as u prob all know so wont bother waste any more letters talking about that.

My question is about the idle, at the moment it idles at 800 and I wouldnt mind dropping it a little. The idle screw is all the way out, infact if I disconnect the ISC it instantly stalls. If I screw it in with the ISC out anything below 800 and the idle hunts up and down. and if I put the ISC in at this point the idle surges to well above 1100.

So maybe 800 is as low as I can go with my cam (wade 1604), but I dont know how to set the idle screw at 700 then tell the ISC to stop trying to add 300 on top of that. The idle reset procedure I had done in the past to sort this kinda thing was an auto trans specific method I believe (its been a while)

Fairmontxr has a point but that may not be it. Id say its a case of your cam probably doesnt wanna be idling to low.... Bigger cam lower rpm = lower running comp and will be p****d idling low if its a big cam.. did it idle lower before?

I have done all the wiring mods needed. It didnt really idle lower. My main thing is I want to have an idle at around 800 that isnt reliant on the ISC.

As I said if I unplug it the car instantly stalls, and if I put the idle screw in to the idle I want, then the ISC adds about 300 rpm on top of that.

If im reading your original post properly, then i reckon 800 rpm idle is pretty good considering 750 is the norm

If you want it a little lower, then try making a new isc gasket out of a softdrink can, with smaller holes than the original one to 'choke' the isc a bit.
