Hi all, as the subject says...

I have what I think is a cheapie camber kit.... the photo is one of the 4... and I have a heap of the washer things as well..

Are they from a camber kit or is that the standard thread length and has someone just put the washes in to improve a bad situation.

(the degreaser spray can cap beside it is for sizing.)

Image

When I had my wheel alignment done, they said I didn't have enough camber adjustment to suit the lowered springs (Lovels SL's) so looking to rectify that.

I should mention that other than saying RH and LH on them.. there is no writing that I can see.

regards

Frank

no that is an aftermarket camber kit, and they come with a heap of shims, they use the shims to adjust out the top arm, to correct the camber when car has been lowered..

yeah... about 6-8 shims fell out of both sides when I dropped the front end off...

So it is a for real camber kit.....

might be time to install them and get the alignment done again..

would rather the adjustable kind but once they are set they won't need changing anyway so I don't suppose it matters much.

To be honest, I don't know.. was on the front end of a wrecked EL ghia.... I took the whole front end home.

There is no noticable wear or slop in the rubber so I don't think it was on the car long.

if it has wear just chuck it in the bin. a new upper mount kit is only about $50, i haven't seen an aftermarket one that doesn't have adjustment.

If its got rubber bushes which it looks like it has its more likely to be factory.

rubbers both black and thead length looks the same too.

Plus each one had more than half a dozen shims per side..

^^^^ The kit you've shown above is a superpro item, and the bushes are dark blue. If you're looking at buying them, try suzukisuper first, they may do them cheaper.
I think the easiest way to tell is to measure the thread length on a stock item, and compare to a kit - the kit thread should be longer. IIRC the stock item can only do a camber change of 1 degree or so, hence the aftermarkets having the longer thread.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

no you are right.
I've used the super pro upper mounts. and unlike nolothane branded crap, after 5 years the superpro one were still good and passed a road worthy inspection with out problems.

If you have shims for it, take them along for the alignment. I got charged a fair bit for them when I got mine done.

Yeah, I've replaced all the bushes in my cars with superpro items - made a noticeable difference in handling quality - ride didn't harden much either, which was good.
Probably on reflection, in some areas leaving the rubber items may've been just as good, e.g. leaf springs.
After reading a few threads on here, seems the nolathane items do deteriorate fairly quickly over time. I suppose the only thing I had intended over time was to regrease the bushes perhaps every 2/3 years. A bit of work, but the bushes are easy enough to remove and reinstall.

I'm going to try and get new bushes for mine I think, they are noisy over bigger bumps at speed.

Sturmovik, maybe they don't charge for them where you go. Thats nice.

oh well..

doesn't matter if they are or not now anyway...

just bit the bullet and got these:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT

now I will have a much easier time of adjustment..

bit more than I was hoping for, especially on the shipping.. but I didn't want to wait as my tyres cost more.
