About 18 months ago I fitted a lowered king spring monroe shock package to my Au2 xr8, to say i'm disappointed is an understatement. The weird thing with the shocks is that their firm when the wheathers cold and s**t when the days are a bit warmer. Another problem is I think the front springs have sagged considerably. I'm not sure if the springs for 6cyl should be the same as for a V8, from past experience the same car with different engines usually requires different spring rate. So at this point I think of replacing the springs with the standard/low for the xr8 and finding some decent shocks,again. Btw if your considering one of these supposed purpose built packages my advice is don't

The springs on the XR6 and XR8 are the same on the front.
I replaced my front and rear springs on my AU XR6 I with 98-02 FALCON AU XR6 LIVE AXLE A KFFL-57SL+ & KFRL-27SL+, sits well.

Yeah I've got the 57sl on the front but they do look rather low. Any chance you could measure the gap between the front wheel centre and guard so I could get an idea if they have sagged?? My measured distance is 340mm.

With the spring and shock package you get the same shocks, no matter how low you go. My understanding of shocks is that you need a certain amount of travel for the dampening, but the lower you go you basically remove all the travel. Mine at super low seems rough and I now understand this is due to the reduced travel, I could only imagine what the ride would be like at super super low. It seems strange that a reputable manufacturer would not package suitable shocks with a so called performance package when surely the reduced height calls for a shorter bodied shock.
