Hi All,

It's finally time to ask a question of my own... hoping someone can help.
On standard suspension + wheels there is an occasional knock from the rear tailshaft/boot??? On a slighly bumpy road and entering the driveway it'll happen only once(not a continuous rattle).
Ford told me that is was the shocker but a independant retailer said the shocker was fine and was unable to locate anything else that was loose.

Any ideas?

I had the same problem but only when I had people in the back seat. Then when I lowered my car, it started again but was worse. I thought the noise (a clunk, not a continuous rattle) was coming from the boot on the left side.

Long story short, it was the exhaust hitting the underbody of the car when the springs were compressing over a bump. To fix it I bought new rubbers from an exhaust shop and fitted them.

You'll probably find your rubbers are old and stretched like mine were. New rubbers will hold your exhaust nice and tight (well, it fixed my problem, hope it fixes yours).

There are three rubbers you'll need to buy and you can fit them yourself as long as you have a jack. Work from the back of the exhaust to the front of the car and you won't miss them. If you haven't found them by the middle of the car, go to the back and start again. It'll cost you less than $20.

Sounds like a shocker to me.
