Was doing a long distance trip over the weekend & thought that 3 or 4 times the gearbox had a bit of a thump to it. Unusually, it was while at a stable cruising speed, not while a gear change. I really only put it down to a rough bump in the road as I was a bit tired & I didn't think it was the drive doing it

However, this afternoon there was a definite bump & a drag on the drive line on the way home from work. The sensation is difficult to explain as it was like the drive was dragging (& therefore slowing down) against the torque converter. It only lasted for about 1 second then the car drove like there was nothing wrong.

I'll keep an eye on what happens if it continues & grab some fault codes when I can. Anyone had a similar thing going on? Suggestions on what to look for?

If it feels like it's slipping, check that your trans fluid is topped up. Once, my EF would slow down momentarily (slipping) while cruising on the highway, then thump when it hooked up again. Added 500mls of trans fluid and never had the problem since.

Still acting up. Only sometimes & I find its only when turning corners now (usually a little too fast) then 50m down the road a drag & bump from the driveline

Only when turning suggests a diff problem to me. But never heard of that combination of symptoms.

When I say bump, its like the box jumps out of gear & back in or something really quick

Seeing that nobody appreciated my joke about having a Jerk while in park.... I might have to add something more constructive.
You can get this stuff from Supercheap, I cannot remember the name of it but the bottle has 2 viles side by side with one being clear and the other being brow. Its like a transmission repair kit in a bottle. Try that for the sake of $30 and if it fixes the problem then you know its definately the trans. If its gets fixed by this magic stuff, then drop it down to a reputable trans specialist ( ask for some names on here) and get them to service and inspect it. Costs about $120 from memory.
While your getting you hands dirty, just out of curiosity check your uni's.
Whats the temp running like on the gauge? Could the trans be overheating from a coolant block?

Mate have u figured out the problem yet?
I'm having a very similar problem but only at speeds between the 58 n 70 km range.
It's like a few small jolts in a row when accelerating through that speed range in D mode.

No I haven't as yet, however my issues are in an EL so more than likely not comparable to the BA.

biggest worry I have right now is the horrible horrible bearing howl of a one of the wheel bearings *face palm* *sigh*
