took the car in today to get inspected. thought it might be the uni's as i couldnt spot any fluid weaping scince it started vibrating under heavy load.

mate reckons there is some noticeable play in the shaft and it will most likely have to go in for the exstension housing. or as he described it, "its looks like you have worn the inside of the transmission tunnel. which i can only assume is the exstension housing??

how much is it to get this done?

im trying to get the car A1 and this is first on the list :( hopefully not a big one.

If you take the housing off yourself, about 50 bux. If you get someone to do it , maybe 100 bux

Not hard to DIY, jack car from rear (so some g/box oil doesn't fall out and make a mess) remove tailshaft, garage jack under cross member, undo x member bolts, drop jack to lower engine, remove x member, remove speedo drive, undo housing bolts. Take housing to tranny place.

reverse to replace with new gasket. 8-)
