Hi Guys,

I have just picked up an LSD for the XG that is currentlty geared at 2.92.My question is am i able to swap the gearing to 3.45 and is this an easy process? Also is it a fairly straight forward swap?what things to i need to take into account when putting it in?

Thanks
Dan

Changing diff gears is not an easy task due to the fact that they will need to be lapped in propperly. It is best to let someone who knows what they are doing take care of that.

Have you just got the gears only, or the complete diff for a wagon or ute?

Gears only will cost around the $700 - $900 mark to have it installed with new bearings and the LSD centre shimmed up etc.

A complete diff from a wagon or ute will bolt straight in with no real issues.

Cheers

So then, unbolt your old diff and bolt in your new diff. Easy.

8 nuts on your U bolts, and 4 on the tailshaft, disconnect the flexible brake line and handbrake cables.

Might pay to drain the LSDs oil, and put in some nice fresh stuff.

Yep, as I stated above $700 - $900 for a reputable workshop.

LSD was an option pretty much across the board back in those days.

i dont think so.
they changed the brakes from the two models and im not 100% on this but think they changed the handbrake aswell and theres alot of stuffing around to do that
