I got an exchange T5 gearbox for my XR8 not long ago and it seems a bit noisy. I used Castrol Transmax Z (synthetic oil) which is what the rebuilder told me to use but it still seems noisy. There is a high pitch whine in 3rd gear and when the car is in neutral there is a rumbling sound (which i have been told is normal but i don't think so). Any help??

in all honesty... t5's are s**t!!

a mate worked on the brutes last year, and they had a holden and ford. the flacon needed the gear box rebuilt after every race meeting, they had four or five spares around the workshop at anytime, and you could destroy it just by shifting hard.

but in saying that, i still wouldnt object to swapping my auto for one! (mmm... supra 5 speed!!)
