At drag day, after my first run, on the return path, I thought I could hear knocking sounds coming from the rear of my car but for the rest of the day, it was fine so I put it down to either me imaginig it or maybe rocks bouncing around. Then today (2 weeks later) was just driving to the shops, lost a bit of traction in the wet turning onto a main rd (notorious gradient for causing slight wheel spin in wet weather) and I heard those knocking sounds again from the rear and my steering was jerking left and right softly. I made it to the shops but every turn I made, that knocking sound would come and my wheel would start jerking again. I parked the car, went to the shops and came back, and its back to normal again. I drove it slowly home, then gave it a little stick to see if anything happenned and everything seemed normal.

Does anyone know what it could be and if I should excpect an almighty bang soon and loss of control of the car. This has got me p****d.

3.9 LSD = fixed + approx .2 off ET + money for diff shop = happy cam + diff shop

Does sound bad, sorta sounds like its locking up, home made spool?
Those diffs are s**t, ford were crazy going back to a 2 pinion centre. It's EA-EBI spec.

On the plus side, it'll probably spin both now if you try and do a standstill.

Lol, just when I thought I was well away from my EA, this happens. Well it is a mkI and I suppose i'm lucky for the dif to have lasted this long after the hiding its had.

Your formula seems logical and I may have to think about this. Do you know any good places to get this done? All I know off he top of my head is $2,000 at bluepower but this fairly expensive.

thanks jarred, 1200 is sweet. If you get the number, would be highly appreciative. If I do get this dif done, will it be more reliable than the one I have now or do i still need to baby it for the most part.

Should be a bit better, a diff is a diff but, I wouldn't run amok with the LSD too much, cause it will die.
You were probably just unlucky with this one.

I'll get the number for you tomorrow.
