Sorry about posting another "whats this noise" thread, but i have exhausted every possible fix and sent many a mechanic insane to try and get rid of a metallic squeak coming from the rear end of my Fairmont.

What i have up back is: DBA slotted rotors and new pads, king superlow springs/monroe shocks, standard diff.

At first i thought it was something loose in the handbrake assembly (as it wasn't working for a while, dodgy mechanic), but having it adjusted back to normal i still find the squeak is there. It only happens going over sharp bumps or ripples in the road eg: brick crosswalks, but going over the same sharp bumps with the brakes on the squeak disappears, but having the handbrake on slightly doesn't seem to stop it either. I have also had anti-squeal grease applied to the pads too.

Is there anything suspension wise that can be tightened or greased? ALL bushes seem fine and have been sprayed with bush oil (hehehe).

Sorry to go on and on but if anyone has a fix for this, drop us a line PLEASE! The squeak is just as good as a chinese torture, very slight but VERY annoying. People also look and stare  which aint great!

Cheers - Matt :D

When I pulled down my diff I found that there is a rubber under the suspension spring and my old diff rubber was worn out on one edge which could cause some noise, try this one.

I have a feeling that that were replaced when the suspension was put in, but the squeak goes away when the brakes are ON :? .

did you put the metal guides that are on the caliper edges back on ?

Thsi is the fine metal thing that stops the pad edge rubbing on the edge.
