Has anybody had problems with the bracket that comes off the clutch pedal and holds the cable?

My one spread apart and let the cable through.
I ended up welding some metal plates to it to try to strenghten but am not 100% sure it is going to hold.

I think it may have a heavy duty pressure plate in it as it feels a bit heavy compared to other cars I have driven with factory clutches.

Does anybody know of anywhere that does a heavy duty bracket to suit EF XR6?

If you ask me I think the factory bracket could have been designed better.

they break all the time, as far as ai know there is no stronger alternative. You just have to drop about 4-5 bucks on your ford parts counter for a new one

Yes Thats the s*it part thanks for going through the trouble to photo and post.
see in your picture the top and bottom area i welded in plates to strengthen but not sure if it is going to hold after getting heat into it.
Bought new bracket today all up cost me $15.90 with new bushes.
The guy at counter said the next thing to go will be the shaft as it is welded to the pedal cluster housing and flex's and starts to crack.
I had thought they where the same as the x falcons that used a common shaft but they arn't.
Looking forward to that repair job when required(not)

I'll just keep the bracket in the console for when and if my modified one lets go.
