OK ... So here is the question

Will an EA 5 speed handle the power output from an EL seeing as though the flywheel on an EA is only a 3 bolt not 5 bolt and are the early box (didnt the EA have flat cut bearings and after that didnt they have tapered roller bearings and does this really matter)

Thanx heaps guys

well, put it this way.

a standard EA T5 Gearbox was used behind a turbo EA putting out 1200Nm to tow a caravan from 0-204-0kmh, in a 3km runway.

it will do fine in the EL :P

not too sure about the bearings. but IIRC people just bolt the 3 bolt gearbox up to the 6-bolt flywheel, as the patterns are the same.

yer i was horrified when i changed the clutch in my 3 bolt ea, 3 shyte quality (8mm if that?) fasteners holding that on with the abuse i give it, replaced with slightly better quality ones (8.8) and it's still holding up alright, never heard of anyone spinning a pressure plate.

theyre also pretty gay when you forget to put the packers back under the pressure plate, get awsome clutch traction, just have problems finding a true neutral and keeping input shaft bearings in the box lol

With my ol EA, i converted the EA 3 bolt flywheel to 6 bolt and used grade 10.9 bolts....no probs.
