Okay, got a gregorys manual? ... no? go get one .

on the diff page, it shows your backlash settings, from markings on the crownwheel . ... Look to see how on the crownwheel how the pinon has been turning the crownwheel, You need to make it line up 100% to how it was removed from another diff centre ... if you need to adjust it, to change the backlash, (moving the pinon in/out) use shims inside the pinon.

diff gears HAVE to be matched, You should never get say a 3.xx crownwheel and a pinon from something another car, EVEN if its the same ratio .

crownwheels and pinons wear in together as a set, and should NEVER be mis-matched, otherwise your WILL get bad noises.

get yourself a complete diff, mark the the crownwheel and pinon, with white or something your can rub off afterwards and install them the SAME way they came out ...
