Might I suggest another solution? The handbrake is inside the rear disc, there is a "brake shoe" which expands into a drum, hence applying the handbrake. Seeing as you had a pretty hard hit on the wheel, it may have broken, or made the "shoe" jump out of one of the clips that hold it in place. I recently adjusted my handbrake a little too tight, and it rubbed in the drum, making a grinding/squeeking noise. If all the other parts seem in order, no bent axles or discs, try this.

A pulsing in the brake pedal usualy denotes a warped rear disc. Shuddering in the steering wheel points to front discs. If you have both (like I do) time for disc machining
