My EL Auto transmission extension housing bush needs replacing and i'm wondering if it's difficult to do at home? Do you need any special tools, or is it pretty straight forward. Previous experiences?

Cheers.

I think it may be called the slip yoke bush? It's not the seal shown in the link, it's a bush actually inside the rear of the transmission.

You need a special tool to remove the bush, and install the new bush.
I made my tools for doing that.
The one on the left is for installing the seal, centre is for installing the new bush, and the right is for pressing out the old bush.

Thats some pretty cool tools you've got there which i'm sure would make the job really easy.

For anyone reading this, this is how I went about it.

I bought the Extensions Housing Kit from Bursons Auto Parts for $24.70 which included the Bush, New Seal and Gasket. It only took around an hour to remove the housing and then a little longer to remove the old bush with a chisel. I then took it to an Auto Repair shop with a press to press in the new bush and seal, costing me $15. Another 1 and a half hours and it's all back together, better than ever!

Total job cost me $39.70 and took no more than 3 hours. :D
