Gday guys.
My synchros for 2nd and 3rd are throwing a tanty and are pretty much not even present.
Just want some info on how to replace them. I am quite mechanically sound but am just unsure around gearboxes as my bike gearbox was a PITA to assemble.
Anybody who has done this before would be handy.
Got a quote for the parts from Award diff and gearbox in seven hills.
Parts list:
2nd gear comes in a 3 piece ring set:
$166
3rd gear comes in a single ring:
$~80
Would it be more worthwile grabbing a reco box instead?
Any and all help is appreciated.

Cheers

Sam

Have you seen this? It's quite informative.

If you're planning to keep the car for a while and drive it 'normally', a rebuild would be OK.....unless you can get a secondhand box that hasn't done many miles. You may as well do all the bearings as well while it's apart. From doing a bit of research, it appears the standard T5s start falling apart with dumping the clutch on take-off and hard gear changes.

If you're planning to sell the car, most people just get one from the wreckers.
