is a rusted tailshaft and drive pinion one that needs to be replaced or is this expected for a 12 yr old car?

i take its only surface rust obviously but does this weaken the shaft or cause any difficulties or loss in drive performance.?

The 3" steel shafts were never painted so surface rust will occur. Its nothing to worry about.

Ford must have had more money to spend on EB2s, both ours are painted black. I prefer black to rusty, so it's a good thing for me they did.
Cheers,
Paul

CJH,
12v, 1971/2, VW Type 3 station wagon, 4spd manual [sold the auto '72 we had] 1600cc, 3dr, white, wide wheels, 009 dist, otherwise original stock, incl original factory heater boxes, very low klms, second owner [we think]
The short answers...yes. LOL
I knocked back $4500 for it the other day, but admit I was tempted a little.
Mac
