Well things went more smoothly installing the short shifter on the XR8.
Only thing is now that apart from a little more noise in the cabin there is another sound I never heard before.

I dropped the cross member to fit the shifter like normal but maybe I havnet put it back up as straight as it was before I left it??
I tightened the cross member bolts a little bit each, alternating as I did until they were back up and tight.
It also feels like I have a little vibration now that wasnt there before.

Do you reckon if I just undo the cross member bolts for the gearbox and do them up again it might come good or should I go see a driveline shop and get them to sort it?

Nah I used the stock shifter handle with the rubber.
I'm going to undo the cross member again and refit it to see what happens.
This time I will push it back up with a jack and then do the bolts rather than putting it back up with the bolts.

Is it like a noise that vibrates through the car especially when you're letting the clutch out from stand still.

No. Its a noise I got when I turn left. Seems like I've ever so slightly misaligned the gearbox when I put it back up. Also after I have gone past 3000rpm.
Noise wasnt there before I put it on but its there now.
Later on today I will drop it and refit it and see what happens. Should only take me about 20 minutes.

Well I've dropped it and put it back up now (cross member). Havent driven it yet.
Doesnt look like anything would of happened. The gearbox sits on a rubber block on the cross member so I couldnt of really done anything to it.
Maybe I've done something to my exhaust or its all in my mind.

did you let the box drop when you were replacing it??? maybe your engine mounts s**t themselves and the vibration is the motor sliding about?

The gearbox dropped out 2 inches max.
I dont reckon enough to hurt the engine mounts.
