hey guys,
I have a rather annoying issue with my 93 ed xr6.I was traveling home this morning and i noticed a really horrid whining noise.
It seemed to come from the rear end right hand side but after going for another drive about 20 minutes ago its now louder and alot harder to determine what is wrong.
The noise starts from anything over 55km/h and will just get worse and worse the further the speed climbs.
I have had a few of the bearings replaced in the diff not to long ago(roughly 10000 ish kms ago)
which i cannot remember which ones off the top of my head.
The noise still happens while the car is coasting in neutral (5 speed manual) and get's alittle worse when turning.
So im leading to believe it may possibly be wheel bearings or something similar, normally i would just take my car to a mechanic but I am abit short of money this week(damn bills) and do not wish to waste their time if i do not have the cash to fix whatever is wrong.
If anyone has any idea on what this problem could be that would be great.

I was thinking wheel bearings too. But i think you have to take out the whole axle to replace the back wheel bearings.

If it is the wheel bearing's,what would happen if i drove around on it for say 2 weeks?
Would there be any risk of breaking something else?

Well they could possibly sieze and fall apart because of heat friction. That may then cause play in the axle.
Im not 100% sure but as a guess :|

i did alittle digging and had a mechanic have a very very quick look and a quick drive and we have come up with two different possibility's.

1st. wheel bearings
2nd. inner brake pads have completely worn out, which does make a little sense considering they haven't been changed in about 39 000 kilometers.

what do you think?both plausible theory's?

Well check brake pads and see if thats the cause. Hopefully it is.
