Hi Guys,

I am just getting all my gear together as I will soon be fitting a snort performance stage 4 turbo kit. I am curious to know how much power the standard XT diff and transmission will handle?

I am chasing a maximum of 300rwk. I just wanted to know if I would be better of rebuilding my standard auto, and diff to handle that sort of power or should I just get a xr6 auto and diff? and will that cope with that sort of power?

And I have been told from a friend that the auto in the standard xr6's is the same as a XT.
The diff is different (with different gearing and LSD)
Is this correct?

BA XR's had the same running gear as your XT.

Thanks for clearing that up mate. But as stated above the diff is different? (XR's came out with LSD and different gearing)
Can you confirm this?

Also can the standard XR diff handle 300rwk? and what's the most you can push out of the standard auto before it lets go?

BA XR's can with a single spinner unless optioned. Ratio I am pretty confident was the same as the XT as well, its not until you get into the XR Turbos that they were LSD and different ratios.

I remember reading an article about the XT being faster as it was the same gear in a lighter car.

Ford specs list the BA XR auto and Ghia as getting a 3.45 single spinner, LSD as options.

All other I6 N/A sedans get a 3.23.

Turbos were definitely a 3.45 LSD.
