gday fellas quick question. i have a ef xr6 turbo which has a t5 manual which is not strong enough for the power my car is making iwas considering putting a auto in it but only as a last resort. i got onto malwood auto and they mentioned a supra 5 speed conversion. what kind of power do the supra 5 speed gear boxs handle? and what is different about them compared to the t5? ie could i use the same tail shaft bel housing etc. is the supra still a cable clutch? thankyou for any help

What about getting back onto Mal Wood and looking at a T56 conversion?
You will need a new bellhousing , definately a new tailshaft yolk and most likely a new tailshaft.
The cast iron Supra boxes will take a lot of power and punishment before throwing in the towel.
Problem is if they do let go the parts are pretty much obsolete nowdays.
I reckon either have the T5 beefed up or look at the T56 or ever a Tremec TKO.

the supra box is pretty good, can withstand a lot of power and punishment. Not sure about the parts being scarce as they are a fairly common gearbox even the hilux's use them, maybe its right i cant see why though, i have seen dumber things though.

T56 would be a good option IMO, prob the way i would go.
