hi there, I have been looking for a related thread but given up as they all seem to be about 6 cyls, so is there anyone out there who could help with my conversion.
Transplanting 5L into xf and using an xg ute T5 with a dellow bellhousing when i order it.
Iwould like to know what i have to or can use from the xg stuff such as flywheel and clutch etc, and what mods have to be done to the wiring on the 5L side to accommodate the T5. do I have to use a manual ecu to overcome 'limp' mode what are the problems when doing this conversion,
any help will be greatly welcomed... thanks

I is the XG T5 of a V8 or I6,,,, cause i have read and apparently the thrust shaft(the shaft that goesinto the bellhousing) is either shorter or longer in the 6 compared to the 8..

If the 5L is carby shouldn't have no dramas with manual gearbox ecu etc etc but if it is a fuel injected ones i assume it would be a early one that had a 3 speed auto... as the 3 speeds had no TCM so you just need to source a manual loom.
