Yes that formula does work when you muck around with that 'constant' figure until you get a baseline for your car. For example i had to change the constant from '3' to '2.86' for it to read 2100rpm @100km/h.
An easy and quick way ive found, if you want to just change diff ratios, and wanna know how many revs at 100km/h for example.... 2100 rpms @100km/h with 3.23 diff at the moment but i wanna change to 3.73's So, 2100 divided by 3.23 then multiplied by 3.73 equals 2425rpm @100km/h Easy. |

i get 1800rpm at 100kmh but im not sure how correct my speedo is |

The T5 has been used in a few cars, and there is a few ratio sets getting around. I thought ford only had 2 in the 6cyl's from EA to AU. My car used to sit on 1800 @ 100 with the same diff & 235/45 17's when it was auto. Only 200rpm higher with the 5spd in, and i have not noticed any worse fuel consumption, even tho i do tend to give it a bit. On petrol the consumption is better, but i'm yet to get the LPG ECU retuned to suit the engine mods, so it's economy is as before. It's a little rough on lpg as well atm. Cheers ToranaGuy
