just about to change the gearbox oil in my T56, dirty great big orange sticker that says
"USE DEXTRON III ONLY NO NOT REMOVE FILLER PLUG" i think i remember someone telling me to fill it up through the reverse sensor or above it? anyone know what the go is here ? cheers |

"If you have a T56 in a Turbo or FPV, dont fill it through the filler plug, you have to fill through the reverse light switch theres a sticker on the box near the Fill plug that says DO NOT REMOVE FILL PULG..."
just gotta take the rubber plug off the back of the switch plug, , now 6 litre came out... thorght it was only spose to have 3.8 litres in it ? |

The extra oil would be because the reverse switch is higher then the fill plug.

this may sound silly,
but if its the filler plug thats what its there for, to fill the box? why would it have do not remove?? |

Ive been told that you use the filler plug for NA boxes but the turbo boxes need more oil so use the reverse sensor hole.

yeah crazy stuff, gear changes are 300% smoother, used penrite gear oil 70
would recommend it over ATF Dex III, wasn't cheap tho

I think the deal is you can fill it with the fill plug, and then you're meant to add another .5L thru the reverse switch, or so I've been told.
Does the owners handbook go into any detail? |

nah owners book says bugger all, i have a factory ba service manual but thats 2003 useless doesnt have the T56 in it

anyone know the official amount of oil its ment to have in it? some say fill past the reverse sensor?
