gee so far i must be lucky, ive been running a second hand el t5 for more than a year now, 6 months with 216rwkw supercharged, and 6 months so far with 265rwkw turbo and around 800nm of torque.. done some pretty harsh launches down the 1/4 hard on boost changes into 3rd.. still running sweet.. :D

im sure within time it will die, but it has handled the power and lasted alot longer than most said it would.

With any luck, there'll be a new option available locally, soon. Upgraded T5 rated to 575ft/lb and 650hp. It should be worth around $2800 - $3000 (to be confirmed), but we'd require your old 'box in return. Will fit straight up to standard bellhousing but will need to use 28 spline clutch. 800hp Twin plate clutches that will hopefully come in at under $1000, as well. So far we've got them designed to suit the V8s, but will be working on modifying input shafts for the 6s.

awesome, certainly a decent option.
would change over be based on the box being in good condition, or would a busted T5 be sufficient, given they're getting rebuilt.

What is being done to the t5 that it can take that much power ?

I thought u couldn't get a t5 rebuilt ( stronger gears etc) to handle 250rwkw+ because the casing twists.

I am very interested in this. I am about to do the conversion to the Terrorist, and have a V8 T5, bellhousing etc. All i need now is a flywheel and clutch. Should make my little 5.8 a barrel of laughs.

i'm not sure on the details on the above mentioned T5's, but the gforce T5's that are available in the states have their cases machines and reinforced.

How much is the TKO 500 conversion going to set you back?

The exchange will be fine with a busted a***, as far as I know. I will have to confirm this. I'm also waiting to hear the truth behind "twisted casing" issues from someone with many, many years of experience with these. I've been told on numerous occasions that this is just a myth, by guys in the US. Hopefully I will have a definitive answer on this tonight.

I should also have a definate price on the clutch tonight, as well.

The upgrade on the T5 consists of a new a***, input shaft, mainshaft, billet keys, cluster support plate, all new bearings, synchronizer rings and seals. I think that's it! When I get these in, I will start a new thread in this section and post up comparison photos as well as provide more info.
