Hey Guys

I have recently installed a T56 transmission from a BA XR8 into my AU. I'm trying to complete the wiring and this thing has a massive solenoid mounted on the side of the shifter. Does anyone know whether this solenoid is energised 100% of the time, or does the BA computer control when the solenoid is energised? And if so, under what conditions would the solenoid be energised?

Cheers

Chris

It's a reverse gear lockout. Not needed to drive the car, just locks out reverse above 5km/h. This is controlled by the PCM.

Any thoughts on the best way to power it then given those circumstances? Will look into the functionality of the AU PCM and how to integrate but I'm open to suggestion. I was thinking the AU PCM series has similar functionality for boot release? ie circuit not powered if above 5km/hr. Perhaps use the same signal to switch a heavier duty control relay which will go on to power the solenoid?

There are quite a few people running 6spd's without the lockout operational. I just did a 6spd conversion in a BA and the lockout isn't being used.
