hey guys
got an el xr6 and ive got 18s on it but the problem is i love low as f**k cars so mine is pretty low right ive got proper king springs in it also got pedders sports ryder shocks in it.. now the actual problem is that its so low that it was sitting on the bump stop over the diff so i cut it down and it started really smacking into it so i took it out completely no dramas but now when i have like a full tank of fuel and people in the car with me the tailshaft rubbs on the floor best soulution is to raise it i know but i like to stand out and it looks to tough being that low if i played round with like trailing arms or something would that help or do i just have to bite the bullet and raise it HELP...

Either way, if you don't raise it, the yellow sticker will make you raise it.

What happens if you have an accident? and insurance / RTA spots the bump stops have been removed in order to get the car lower, they'll deny ur policy.

Im not being an a***, but theres low and stupidly low,
A body kit will make the car look lower and better or do you have this already?

raise it and put the stops back in: they are there for a reason.
im surprised your ehaust dosen't hit or your shocks don't bottom out hardcore.
how much flex is in the brake line from chassis to diff?

You've got a few choices.
Raise it, and not have it look as 'tough'.
Put a trimmed bumpstop back in (by the way guys, hes talking about the Bumpstop over the diff, not the suspension ones) and have it whack every now or again.
Or have a tail shaft failure by leaving it how it is.
I also wonder why you make the point of saying 'proper' king springs.
I've seen an EL XR8 with ultralows and 19's, and it sits un-f**k-believably low, but he can still tow a jetski and have people in the car and not hit that diff bumpstop or have the tailshaft hit the floor.
Perhaps you've got a bit happy with the angle grinder mate?

I thought angle grinders went out 20 years ago, problem was gettin the sucker to sit perfectly. Hell one goose I knew even heated the whole coil with oxy after cutting and then dowsed it in water, poor bastarb never made it past the first speed hump in the tech car park.

^ lol.

If it's illegal low, take it back up, it's not cool for handling and will get you in trouble with either/and insurance and the law. Not worth it.

Having said that, so us some pics of it now, I'd like to see how low it really is.

put the bumpstop back in and put up with the noise or just raise it ! cause i would feel sorry for your family if you had a acco ( killed some-one or a passanger in your car ) and it wasnt your fault and the insurance wont cover your car cause of too many mods that arnt on the policy . and christ help ya if you hit Me !
So in another words raise it and make it somewhat legal and not worry on how Tough it looks . :)

Ok I didn't see the bombodoore. My question though how was your front tyre ware? I have to turn the tyres on the rims every 4000k's to get 15000k's out of the fronts and I dont want to upset the handeling of the car, they are 17's so tyre life is short but what sort of k's do you get?

I had a lot of issues with the tailshaft hitting the floor in my XR8 before (and mine is only running superlows)

This isnt as uncommon as you would think.

simple solution - get a 2 peice tail shaft!!

Ring Mal Wood Automotive in QLD on 07 4661 3548, tell him Kelli told you to call, and he will get it all sorted
