time to give the el tranny a service, just wondering whether a flush of the line is recommened or not, if yes what is the right way to do it.
what oil do u use and recommend. thanks to any one u puts in to this thread

i use penrite ATF 95 LE takes 4 litres with filter..off hand i think its another 7 litres to flush converter..

Theres about 11ltrs in the Transmission including the torque convertor, the rest doesn't normally get changed, most places don't normally change all the fuild unless the box is being removed. This pushes the costs up significantly. Normal service is around $110 including filter. Oil is Castrol TQ95 or equivilent.

as above with the amount of fluid, can also change the pan gasket.
im about to do mine on the EL but have a question do the el's have a drain plug on the torque converter? the old C4 on the ZJ had one. |

to do a proper flush you will need about 20L of fluid.
when you get the 20L drum of fluid also get a drum pump to go with. step one do the normal pan change and fill = 4L of fluid. then undo the cooler lines from the rad and attach clear hose of about 1M lenght. to the metal lines with clamps. run the car to find out wich pipe is the return line put the other end of the clear hose from that line onto the drum pump. and run the other hose into a empty container of at least 20L get your friend to sit in your car and start it and move the shifter through the gears, while he is doing this you need to pump new fluid in at the same rate the old is coming out. continue until the fluid comming out is clean. hook up all the lines again. |

don't over look it mate. a new tranny is $1650 trade price so up to $2000 pluss fitting

WHAT  i got mine done the other day for $130 fluid,filter gasket everything.
mind u i did ring around and prices ranged from 130 to 220,so i think it would pay to phone around in future cheers

$130 is a bit much, we get the taxi serviced for abt $70, new gasket filter and penrite oil.

if thats every 20000k ,which u would do in about 1 month ,then u r going to be getting alot of services in 1 year,so he is going to give u mates rates. whereas im only doing around 20000k in a year so he wil only see my car once a year so he has to make a bit of a profit from someone. u thoght 130 was dear, well i was quoted 189 at ATS for the same thing so i think i got off lightly cheers

I get my standard service done for $90 but that's trade. I think he's normal price is $110.
