its been a problem even before i lowered my car (lovells equivalent of ultralows i'm told), when i went over a bump while at close to or at full lock it will make a strange knocking and rubbing noise and recieve feedback through the steering wheel. first question is what could this be? (its not rubbing on the guards)
and secondly, my rear tyres are level with the arches, but my fronts are sitting about +1cm in. what is the best way to sort this out, is there some kind of spacer that can be bought? (i was considering making one by buying another coil spring insulator). thirdly and relating to this, if i go over a big enough bump on the freeway i hear a metal to metal knock. is it bottoming out? cheers, adam |

I'd have to disagree with you and say it is the guards.
They have an inner curl over. Check to see if that has unrolled or not. I'm sitting on superlows and 20's and i had to roll my guards slightly and cant go over speedbumps, potholes, driveways, curved roads etc with my steering wheel turned at all. If it isn't the guards it may be the upper ball joint mounts. What wheels and tyres are you running?

well i did roll the guards, but i will check it out again. its just that it was also doing it at stock height.
tyres are tickford 17's with 235-45's. i'm more concerned about the noise it makes over a big bump going straight. noticeable from the drivers side. |

Well in that case it is most unlikely to be the guards.
Possibly shocks or shock mounts? My rear drivers shock was knocking and it turned out to be the upper bolt had loosened itself. Bit of locktite sorted it out real good.

i'll check over it all asap. hopefully thats the only problem. i dont think theres much else it can be hitting.
any idea how i can raise it 1-2 aswell? |

just a thought mate check your radious rod rubbers . if they are gone it could cause your tyer to rub on guard as the wheel moves back . n the knock could be the rod were the bush is floged out hiting the chasey . that is if it is radious rod rubbers

mine is on ultralows with 234/45R17 and on full lock it rubs on the metal brake line in the LH inner guard. so i avoid full lock

Check upper control arm buhes. I would doubt ball joints as thest stay a static distance from the tyre. you would need some decent carcass distorstion to have ball joint and tyre meet. ball joints are easy to check but Upper control arm bushes can also appear to be a ball joint failure to the novice.
Check your guards, and also insprct the edge of the tread carcas for any obvious signs of gouging.
