Let us prey that he did.

Thinktank, might i suggest taking her in for a filter and fluid change? Best bet would be a full flush, the fluid can burn quite easily when the level is low.

Any mechanic will be able to do this... service prolly $50 or with full flush $100....

Might be something electrical... does it select gears properly.. i.e. when downshifting from overdrive?

The reason I asked this is because you said," you checked the dipstick on the Tranny" Thus I ponder upon another question. What dipstick?? As their were none on EL Transmissions. Feel free to enlighten me and correct me if I am wrong :D

The fact man says there was a dipstick on models upto Jan '96 for the sixes and all 8's have 'em so I guess he must have one if he got to pull something out..

Like you said would have to be early 96 EL with an EF Head. Because thats what I orginally thought as mine being a 97EL it obvioulsy dosent have a dipstick.
Bit of a rude shock not to have one as I found out when I first bought my EL. I searched high and low around the Engine bay for the Auto Dipstick. Then in frustration I went to a local Mechanic shop to ask if they new were it was only to be served by an Apprentice who then came out and tried to find it as well. Then the Head Mechanic came out and then humbly informed me that there was none for EL motors. After which I drove off I could hear the Head Mechanic giving the Apprentice a bit of a lecture on not being..........A dumbass
