Anyone got a pic of where a factory fitted one might be?
I got a 5.0L with heavy tow kit so I might have one. I want to know where it is.

It's hard to get a pic because it is behind the bumper. It is on the drivers side in front of the radiator. It's very large.

Your tranny oil lines come out of the radiator and into the cooler. They are about 8mm dia, on the drivers side radiator tank. Follow them and you will find one, if you have one.

So whats involved in installing one?? i have an EB II auto, and i tend to give it some berries, i drove to buxton the other day, checked my tranny fluid and it was sitting 3 inches above the hot line. Plus my trans seems to die in the a** in gear changes after a few hours of driving.

The fluid is always clear.

I had it serviced 10,000 ago

Maybe it needs a check up

That'd be Option 42 which I do have. I even have a cute little power steering cooler fitted! I wonder if that was standard on all V8's?

was just on the phone to the guy from the auto trans shop.
asked him about an external trans cooler for an ef .he said they restrict flow and arn't worth putting in.think he said to make sure the lines to the radiator are nice and dandy and thats enough (even with engine work) to
keep the trans cool.

what do u reakon?

I reckon he is full of s**t. I have pulled apart a BW35, and shift kitted a T700. The trans cooler line that goes back into the box just flows fluid over the clutch packs and gears like a fountain. Pressure is irrelavant and there would be more restriction from the valvebody. I would assume the BTR 4 speed would be the same.

I got one fitted for 250 including a service of the tranny. Price was for the largest one i could get. The only reason l got it was because i blew the overflow towing to ballarat and nearly cost myself a new tranny. Small investment realy considering it has never failed me again over longer harder trips

yeh i got one done with a service and 4 flushes for 420. Because of excessive metal) The cooler itself cost 165 and he said that was the biggest you can get.

It extends life of your box and u can do more burnouts for longer. :D
