Hey guy's

The oil in my transmission is kinda crusty looking so I would like to try and flush most of it out if I can and wack in a new filter while I'm at it . Does anyone know how many litres I'll need for this and what oil would be best suited to my transmission ?

Cheers

If your going to flush it, about 20lts......not all at once, either.
You may find it better to get a shop to do it, if you don't know how to do it right.

Thanks cjh .20 ltrs  , OK so what transmission fluid would you guy's recommend ?

to flush the trans can I take off one of the trans cooler lines and let it drain into a drum/container while the engine is running and keep topping it up with new oil or is there a easier way of doing it ?

Valvoline recommended 95LE but now it's been superceded by Maxlife

After reading through all the posts on FordMods about flushing trannies I was able to do it myself today.

TQ95 oil 20L for $160, new filter and seal off ebay.

Took quite a long time without a pump but got there in the end.

Had to ask a neighbour to jump in the front and key on/off and shift through the gears. Definitely makes a big difference running through the gears while you flush. More black s**t comes out.

Only needed 2 axles stand for the rear and chocked the front. That gave me enough room to get under, and allowed the gearbox to go into gear during flush.

Took it for a roll after topping up and it made a huge difference. Almost no flaring between gears at full throttle.

Shift kit to be fitted next. The old girls a keeper so I want the tranny to last.
