heres the deal,

bought my car, sweet (its an auto)
tranny giving very 'hard' shifts, getting undesirable wheelspin from 1st -> 2nd.
went and had the solenoid replaced (s5) twice. 1st time guy put in a faulty one which made it worse, took it back, he put another one in. Its a lot better now, no wheelspin and significantly smoother but nowhere near perfect, still gives a boneshaking jolt sometimes. Other times it can drive like a dream, getting it right every time. Seems to be more prominent when cold. Is it possible that this bafoon has put in yet another semi-faulty solenoid? Is there anything else that could be wrong before i splurge $300odd bux again on another solenoid? Ive reset all the throttle settings and such. Its a '95 EF Futura

Thanks

All, its annoying! U give it a burst at a set of lights and it throws u round like all buggery (not a good throw), makes the drive uncomfortable

if i give it to it from the lights in our fairmont it goes "CLUNK" into 2nd but all other gears are rite...but i think it needs some bands tightened i think...somewhre i read that if it rolls back in drive on a hill that it needs it done....mite just dump the auto for sumthing a little more fun :P

That hard shift or clunk as you put it is most likely the S5 soleniod failing. It will damage the trans if left that way.

Sounds like Diff slap. I sometimes get that if I give my EL a kick in the guts after she has sat all day in my Work carpark. Yeah dosent feel good. Sometimes with that "Bang/Clunk sound" you think the tranny has exploded in to a thousand peices. I always go easy on her now!

It FEELS like the whole rear end falls out sometimes, its really quite sudden. Its on ALL gears, more noticebale in power....econ is just lame (smoother at low speeds, rough at high) ,power(rough at low speed, smooth at high)

Heaps more noticeable when cold, i figure it cant be good....jolts like that cant be doing any good to any part of the drivetrain
